Greetings, EMIG folks, Our last meeting, which seemed like ages ago, was a productive one. Below are the highlights: 1) We're working on finding some money to help send a few EMIG members to SAEM in Boston this year. The Department of Emergency Medicine is soliciting funds, and EMIG has met with the folks at Coca-Cola. As details become available on how much we'll be able to offer, I'll be seeking out persons interested in going. Please keep your eyes on you in-box, as this should happen soon. 2) We're trying to decide whether or not it is valuable for EMIG to have an official representative (at a cost of $50 per year to pay for the rep's membership) to the Emergency Medicine Residents' Association (EMRA). We couldn't come to any consensus, so I thought we should put it to the membership at large. I ask that you take a few minutes and look over their membership website: http://www.emra.org/index.cfm?page=8 The webpage has a lot of info that might be useful, but please evaluate whether paying for one student's membership would be useful for the group. 3) We're getting spanked on our Spring Lecture Series (i.e., the lectures don't seem to be getting off the ground). If you'd like to help Chris get some lectures going, please email him today by replying to this message. 4) The Regions Residency Fair is coming up in April. We brainstormed a number of things we'd like the forum to address this year. As I hear from the planners on exactly what will be included, I'll be passing that along. Students universally find this forum helpful and interesting, so I would encourage attendance if you are interested in a career in EM. Details to follow. 5) EMIG Spring Service Project will be at the Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery. We've been assigned a night in April to come as a group of 3-6 members to make dinner for their residents (children of parents in temporary crises). Watch for an email soliciting your participation in this. That's all for now... Enjoy the suture clinic on monday, and please plan to attend our March Meeting, which will be Tuesday, March 18th at 5:30 pm at the Sheraton Four-Points at 35W and Industrial Blvd. Regards, Chris Choukalas ={()
