Ernst Mayr was held during the 122nd Stated 
Meeting of the American Ornithologists’ Union in 
Québec, Canada, in August 2004. The papers 
presented in this symposium have been published 
recently, along with other materials relating to 
Ernst Mayr.

2. The National Center for Science Education 
(NCSE), a non-profit organization that defends 
the teaching of evolution in public schools, is 
seeking candidates for three positions: Education 
Project Director, Faith Project Director, and 
Archives Project Director.  Deadline for 
application is August 1, 2006.

3. The University of California, Davis seeks an 
Assistant Professor in the Science and Technology 
Studies Program, with a joint appointment in 
Anthropology, History, Philosophy, or Sociology, 
beginning Fall 2007. The appointee must have a 
broad knowledge of science/technology/medicine 
studies with a dynamic research program focusing 
on the life sciences broadly conceived, including 
medicine, health, the body, sexuality, 
biotechnology, and ecology.  Applications 
received by October 6, 2006 will receive full 
consideration.
