Ellen Clarke, Bristol University

Biography
Ellen graduated in Philosophy from Leeds University in 2003. She went on to Bristol University where she took the MA in Philosophy of Science, and has now started an MLitt in Philosophy of Biology. She has written on evolutionary game theory and its social applications, the evolution of self-deception and her current project: biological individuality and its role in selection. Other interests of hers include sexual selection, life history theory, evolution of consciousness, the rise of creationism, evolutionary psychology and general biological ontology. She is very active in the philosophy postgrad community at Bristol University, where they run postgraduate seminars, as well as organising social trips and entertaining visitors from other universities, and in her spare time she surfs, goes to pubs and chats about the meaning of life.

Platform Statement
Ellen will work to encourage and increase interactions among postgraduates in ISH through conferences, social events and workshops. Ellen will work to channel student interests and concerns to ISH, as well as informing students of changes and trends within the ISH.

Don Goodman-Wilson, Washington University-St. Louis

Biography
Don is a Ph.D. student in philosophy at Washington University-St. Louis. His interests include the philosophy of causation and experimentation, particularly in the context of neuroscience. He received a B.S. in engineering from Mississippi State University in 2001. In his spare time, Don practices kendo, flies kites, and is an avid photographer and motor-scooter mechanic.

Platform Statement
As student representative, Don's primary goal would be to build on the success of FDIBS 2006: To put together for 2008 a strong graduate student-oriented conference that fosters dialog between students in different disciplines.
