4. Arizona State University announces new graduate programs to study 
science and society at Arizona State University.  They have 
particular strengths in the history and philosophy of developmental 
biology, conservation biology, evolutionary theory, social evolution 
and systematics as well as in general philosophy of science and

5. Call for applications: ASU-MBL History of Biology Seminar 2009: 
"Theory in the Life Sciences," May 20-27, 2009, Woods Hole, MA.  The 
MBL-ASU History of Biology Seminar is an intensive week with annually 
varying topics designed for a group of no more than 25 advanced 
graduate students, postdoctoral associates, younger scholars, and 
established researchers in biology, history, philosophy, and the

Zoology at the University of British Columbia held the First Annual 
Interdisciplinary Workshop on the Historical, Philosophical and

7. The Department of Philosophy at the University of California, 
Santa Cruz, invites applications for a faculty position at the level 
of Assistant Professor - Associate Professor (Step III) beginning

department is interested in any core area in the philosophy of

9. Call for papers: The 44th Joint Atlantic Seminar for the History 
of Biology, Saturday, April 4th, 2009, Drew University, Madison, New 
Jersey.  The conference is free to attend and every effort will be

living in the vicinity of the northeastern U.S.  Deadline for

10. The University of Exeter (UK) has a revised and freshly tested 
one-year MA programme in History and Philosophy of Biology. It leads
