This is an early report this week due to the Thanksgiving Holiday. Weather has been mild and pleasant lately, and no more snow or rain has come to plague us. Owls are the key species this week with several different species being reported.

>From Lake of the Woods County, Beth Siverhus saw a NORTHERN HAWK OWL on November 21 along MN 72 at mile marked 47. This is the approximate location where owls were seen during the last irruption. On November23, Beth saw another NORTHERN HAWK OWL south of Baudette at mile marker 67 also on MN 72. Gretchen Mehmel saw a NORTHERN HAWK OWL on the Roosevelt Road north of the Faunce-Butterfield Road, and one on the Roosevelt Road south of Cecil's Landing. Late last week a GREAT GRAY OWL was found along the Faunce-Butterfield Road between the Roosevelt Road and the Hogsback. All the those seen by Gretchen were in the Beltrami Island State Forest. Another species that has returned to the forest is the PINE GROSBEAK that is visiting the Norris Camp feeders. Beth Siverhus also found a NORTHERN HAWK OWL in Be! ! l! trami County along MN 72 at mile marker 42 on November 21.

In Kittson County , Larry Wilebski reported a HOARY REDPOLL on November 23. Other species seen on his property northwest of Lancaster included BALD EAGLE, ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS, COMMON REDPOLLS, and PINE SISKINS.

Two SNOWY OWLS were seen at Agassiz NWR last week. On November 14 one was seen at Farmes Pool, and on November17 one was seen along CR 7. Other species reported from Agassiz NWR this week included BALD EAGLE, ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, and a NORTHERN SHRIKE.

Shelley Steva saw a SNOWY OWL on November 21 in Pennington County, a mile north of the Pennington /Red Lake County line along US 59.

This week, two EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES were seen by Karen Suldahl in Climax, Polk County. Bruce Flaig reported COMMON REDPOLLS, and PINE SISKINS in his yard in southern Polk County on November 21.

Dan and Sandy Thimgan in Otter Tail County reported that the CAROLINA WREN returned to their yard on November 22, after not being seen since November 8. Other species visiting the yard included three NORTHERN CARDINALS, COMMON REDPOLLS, and PINE SISKINS.
