As posted earlier today, an immature Golden-crowned Sparrow showed up at Brad Snelling's feeders at 21 East College Street in Duluth on 14 December, and it was still present today, the 20th. Brad said it was perfectly OK for birders to come and look for the sparrow, so here are the directions: From I-35, take the 21st Ave East exit, follow 21st up the hill until it ends and merges with Woodland Ave, turn right on Woodland and go to the 2nd stoplight at Clover St, turn right on Clover and go 1 block to 8th Street, turn right on 8th and go 1 block to E College St, turn left and go 1/2 block to Brad's house (a beige stucco house on left side of street). The feeders are on the left side of the house and are visible from the street; you can also walk up the alley which passes right next to the feeders. Please be careful where you park, since the street is narrow with lots of snow making the street narrower still. Because of this, park well away from driveways and the alley so residents don't have any difficulties getting into and out of their driveways. Other birds of note seen today on the Duluth CBC include: female- plumaged Harlequin Duck at the French River, 11 Long-tailed Ducks at Brighton Beach, Thayer's and Glaucous gulls in the Duluth harbor, 3 Snowy Owls also in the harbor area, Black-backed Woodpecker on Norwood St, Boreal Chickadee on the 2700 block of Greysolon Rd, and Varied Thrush on Eileen Ave. Kim Eckert ---- Join or Leave mou-net:http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=mou-net Archives:http://lists.umn.edu/archives/mou-net.html
