Hi Steve,
I can understand your skepticism.  While it is not common for them to be
found in trees, it is certainly not unheard of.  I sighted a Snowy Owl in
St. Cloud a number of years ago in a totally urban setting.  This one also
landed in a tree.
My daughter watched the owl for several minutes and was quite sure of its
I.D. That's why this was the first posting I've made to this forum-unusual
habitat, unusual behavior. She was pretty excited!
