This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday, May 28th 2009.
Participants in the MOU field trip of May 23rd found a CALIFORNIA GULL at the Headquarters Pool of Agassiz National Wildlife Refuge in Marshall County.
In Duluth, an ARCTIC TERN was seen on the 23rd at Hearding Island off Park Point.
Up until May 27th, a female LAZULI BUNTING had been visiting the feeder of Alma Ronningen in the town of Dent, Otter Tail County, but it now appears to have left the area.
On May 19th, a first Morrison County record BELL'S VIREO was discovered north of Little Falls in Belle Prairie Park.
A KENTUCKY WARBLER has returned to Williams Nature Center in Blue Earth County. It was heard singing on the 24th.
On May 21st, a first Nicollet County record BLUE GROSBEAK was discovered at the gravel pits along 506th St. south of Courtland. And the next day, a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was at the Linnaeus Arboretum on the south side of Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter. Check the trees just south of the cabin. Another mockingbird was in Stillwater, Washington County on the 28th, near the Goodwill Industries driveway entrance just south of state highway 36. And a mockingbird was at the Recreation Area of Park Point in Duluth on the 24th. Also in Duluth, a PARASITIC JAEGER was over the lake from the beach access just south of bath house at the Recreation Area.
