This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday, July 23rd 2009.

On the 18th, a LAZULI BUNTING was discovered at the Vale WMA north of Henderson in Sibley County. From the parking lot walk north on the road for about three-quarters of a mile to a low area with a stream where the bird was last seen.

Those two SNOWY EGRETS were still at the Purgatory Creek wetlands in Eden Prairie, Hennepin County on the 23rd.

A YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was in Minnetonka, Hennepin County on the 23rd. It was roosting in the willows along the edge of a small pond at the apartment complex at 10511 Cedar Lake Road. This location is not far from where two Yellow-crowned Night-Herons were seen on April 30th.

A NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was found along the southern boundary of the Cobb River WPA east of Beauford, Blue Earth County, on the 17th. Take state highway 22 south from Mankato. Turn east on county road 10 and then south on county road 16.
