This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday, June 17th, 2010.
On June 15th, Steve Weston discovered a SCISSOR-TAILED FLYCATCHER south of Belle Plaine in Scott County. He found it on the northwest side of U.S. Highway 169 just north of 250th Street.
A few ACADIAN FLYCATCHERS were reported by Bob Ekblad from Olmsted County on the 13th at the Forestry Management Unit south of Marion. Go south of Marion on U.S. Highway 52 and turn right on County Road 16, then turn to the left on County Road 116. Follow 116 east and south, then turn east on Stagecoach Road. At the end of the road make a sharp right into the Bill Barnacle Forestry Management Unit. Park at the first parking lot on the right and walk south along the road. At the gate, take the path for about three-quarters of a mile and listen for calling flycatchers.
Interesting was the BLACK-BILLED MAGPIE seen by Darrell and Donna Crider on June 10th along Carlton County Road 12 just west of Moose Lake and about a quarter of a mile north of highway 27.
