This is the Duluth Birding Report for June 24th, 2010 sponsored by the
Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

17th in Koochiching County by Denny and Barb Martin. The birds were seen
along the Fiero Road (CR 175), 1.5 miles north of the Toumey-Williams
Road (CR 177). Denny and Barb also found a WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL on the
Toumey-Williams Road, 0.2 mile north of CR 30.

A GREAT GRAY OWL and three NORTHERN HAWK OWLS were seen by Chris Wood
and others on the 11th in Lake County along the Stoney River Forest
Road, 1.2 miles north of the Whyte Road. Three WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS
were seen on the 22nd along the Upland Trail, 0.5 mile west of CR 2.
Chris's group also relocated a GREAT GRAY OWL and a SHORT-EARED OWL in
Aitkin County along CR 18 near the Pietzís Road.

Peder Svingen saw seven RED-THROATED LOONS on the 13th on Park Point at
the Sky Harbor Airport and a late HORNED GREBE at 22nd Street. Gordy
Martinson saw a RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER on the 20th in his yard in
Lakewood Township.
