POSITION OVERVIEW: 
This position will oversee the day-to-day operations of the newly awarded Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) Title VI grant at the University of Minnesota. The position will work closely with the CIBER Academic Director to establish this new center and ensure the proposed activities of CIBER are planned and implemented in an effective, efficient manner. A successful candidate will have significant experience in leadership, project management, and communications. Existing relationships with relevant units within the University of Minnesota and the regional business community and the ability to forge new ones are important to this position. Strong verbal and written communication skills will be necessary to develop and disseminate information on CIBER activities to relevant parties.           
                           
Required/Preferred Qualifications               Required Qualifications 

-Required Master's degree in higher education, MBA, or any relevant field is required, in addition to five to seven years progressively responsible management experience in higher education, international education and/or relevant business functions;
-Proven experience in a higher education or corporate setting, specifically in leadership, project management, and budgetary responsibilities;
-Five years of demonstrated supervisory management experience;
-International work or education abroad experience;
-Strong interpersonal and writing skills and ability to work with diverse stakeholders in higher education, business, non-profit, and government environments.
-Strong project management and program development skills;
-Experience in developing and executing marketing strategies for brochure and website development and advertising pieces; and
-Proficiency in office technology tools essential such as MS Office software packages (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint) and willingness to learn new university of U.S. government technology systems and tools, as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications 

-Experience within academia and with business and educational outreach; ability to perform independently and move forward without supervision.
-Proven record of collaboration and ability to build effective relationships with students, staff, faculty, and key University and external units.
-Grant management and budgetary experience.
-Ability to work under tight deadlines and in a fast-paced, collaborative, team-focused environment;
-Proven record of collaboration in a highly complex matrix organization; ability to build productive relationships with students, staff, faculty, and key University and external stakeholders;
-Familiarity with both domestic and international business communities.
 
Duties/Responsibilities 

                LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT (40%)
-Develops and manages annual strategic and tactical plan to execute newly awarded CIBER grant initiatives; work closely with assistant and associate deans to establish annual CIBER and International Programs Office goals and metrics as they align with Carlson School strategic objectives;
-Oversees comprehensive CIBER budget and ensures regulatory and budgetary compliance in all areas related to the U.S. Department of Education grant; and
-Motivates and leads CIBER team; manages staff development and performance reviews for coordinator and graduate student.

STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT (30%)
-Leads strategic and tactical communication efforts across all aspects of CIBER; engages CIBER advisory members, consisting of internal and external partners, in annual meetings and ongoing initiatives; collaborates with assistant and associate deans to spearhead the overall CIBER marketing strategy including integration of key content into Carlson School bi-annual Going Global newsletter;
-Creates bi-annual reporting of data and related information requested by the U.S. Department of Education on all CIBER activities; represents U of M CIBER at CIBER-related conferences and the Carlson School through service on key university-wide committees; and
-Develops marketing materials for conferences and other proposed activities such as web content, program brochures, social networking, etc.; promotes CIBER and interacts with students, staff, faculty, and alumni at Carlson School, U of M, and community-wide events; develops and provides presentations with up-to-date information to all internal and external stakeholders when appropriate.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT (30%)
-In collaboration with CIBER Academic Director, plans and implements programs, activities, and initiatives of CIBER Title VI grant; Leads and manages relationships with professionals throughout the Carlson School such as International Programs Office, Diversity Initiatives, Marketing Services, Institute for Research on Marketing, External and Alumni Relations, and others across the University, such as Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition (CARLA), Institute for Global Studies, Confucius Institute, China Center, Institute on the Environment, and others as defined in proposed grant activities;
-Leads and coordinates CIBER outreach efforts directed at business and educational institutions at regional, national, and international levels and throughout the CIBER network; and
-Oversees critical processes and procedures related to CIBER forecasting and reporting, grant development and management policies, technology issues and solutions, especially as they support rapid growth of new and emerging activities.
