As I compile this a cold rain is pounding down outside, and leaves are
giving up their struggle to hang on. The wind is howling, reminding us
of the blizzards to come. Fall migrant sparrows are starting to come
through, and the last of the warblers are still being reported.

A male BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER was reported by Dennis Weisenborn on
September 19 in Moorhead, Clay County, across from Fargo's Mickelson
Park.

Marshall Howe at Little Sand Lake near Park Rapids in Hubbard County
reported RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET, ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, YELLOW-RUMPED
WARBLER, and DARK-EYED JUNCO on September 21.

A caller to the hotline reported she had seen the last RUBY-THROATED
HUMMINGBIRD at her feeder near Detroit Lakes in Becker County on
September 15.

Sandy Aubol in East Grand Forks , Polk County, observed an EASTERN
PHOEBE on September 19, RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD, RED-BREASTED
NUTHATCH, WHITE-THROATED SPARROW, and WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW on September
20, and HARRIS'S SPARROW and PINE SISKINS on September 23.

In Red Lake County, Shelley Steva found two TURKEY VULTURES alongside CR
5 about 6 miles north of Oklee on September 18.

Beth Siverhus in Warroad , Roseau County, observed PALM WARBLERS,
WHITE-THROATED SPARROW, and HARRIS'S SPARROW on September 20.

In Lake of the Woods County, Beth found TUNDRA SWANS , GREEN-WINGED TEAL
, and WOOD DUCK at the rice paddies along CR 1.

Thanks to Beth Siverhus, Dennis Weisenborn, Jean Erickson, Marshall
Howe, Sandy Aubol, and Shelley Steva for their reports.
