This is the Minnesota Birding Report for December 2nd, 2010.

A female BARROW'S GOLDENEYE was reported from the southeast corner of Lake Vadnais in Ramsey County on November 28th, along with a couple of WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS.

In Aitkin County, Greg Seegert reported two GREAT GRAY OWLS on the 27th along county road 18 at its junction with Pietz's Road. Warren Nelson found a Great Gray half a mile west of here on November 23rd. In the Sax-Zim Bog area of St. Louis County, two NORTHERN HAWK OWLS were found on December 2nd by Sparky Stensaas along Stone Lake Road. And Beth Siverhus reported a NORTHERN HAWK OWL was still in Beltrami County on November 29th along state highway 72 at mile marker 48.

Greg Seegert found two BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKERS on the 27th along McDavitt Road in the Sax-Zim Bog, about 2.5 miles north of Sax Road.

A TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE is still being seen at the north end of Lake Vadnais in Ramsey County feeding in the cedars on the west side of County Road F.

Jim Ostendorf of Sturgeon Lake, Pine County, reports a VARIED THRUSH has been at his bird feeder along Wagon Wheel Road since November 23rd.

And finally, the Eurasian Tree Sparrow previously reported in Kandiyohi County was last seen on November 28th.
