This is the Duluth Birding Report for December 16th, 2010 sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

Several observers continued to report multiple THAYER'S GULLS, ICELAND GULLS, GLAUCOUS GULLS, and GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULLS of various ages at Canal Park during the past week, as well as several hybrids. A RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER was seen on the 14th in Duluth along Dunedin Street, and the one along the Martin Road (CR 10) near the Old Vermillion Trail was still present this week.

David Alexander and Frank Nicoletti saw two SPRUCE GROUSE on the 12th along Koochiching County Road 13 southwest of Littlefork.

Steve Falkowski found a late GREAT BLUE HERON on the 9th on Manganika Lake, south of the city of Virginia.
