This morning, 9 January, the MBW group found 2 Spruce Grouse along MN Hwy 1 just SE of the Spruce Rd. One of the birds was in the highway itself, ~0.1 mi SE of the Spruce Rd; the other grouse was another 0.1 mi SE of there, <50 yards off Hwy 1 on Forest Rd 186. Both were seen as they picked at salt/grit in the roads around 9:00 am. This area is just near mile marker 297, ~14 mi NW of the Lake CR 2 junction.
