This is the Minnesota Birding Report for March 24th, 2011.

A group of 72 LONG-TAILED DUCKS was seen on the 17th at Agate Bay in Two Harbors, Lake County.

Several species of gull were at Canal Park in Duluth on the19th, including ICELAND GULL, THAYER'S GULLS, GLAUCOUS GULL, LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL, and GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL.

On March 22nd, Warren Nelson reported that the YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER which has been overwintering in Aitkin County at Gun Lake was joined by a second Yellow-rumped.

On the 18th, Scott Loss reported the spring's first GREAT EGRET from Lake Rebecca in Hastings, Dakota County and Paul Kubic heard several AMERICAN WOODCOCK on the 17th at Long Meadow Park in Hennepin County just south of Ridgedale. I also have reports of migrant BUFFLEHEAD, RED-BREASTED MERGANSER, AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN, DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANT, GOLDEN EAGLE, AMERICAN KESTREL, BROWN CREEPER, LAPLAND LONGSPUR, and FOX SPARROW.
