The Department of Philosophy at the University of Calgary invites applications for a one-year postdoctoral fellowship starting on September 1, 2011.  The area of specialization is logic or the philosophy of science.  Applications will be accepted until April 15, 2011 or until the position is filled. http://www.ishpssb.org/listserv/20110413-2.html

3. New book: Maladapting Minds: Philosophy, Psychiatry, and Evolutionary Theory, edited by Pieter R. Adriaens and Andreas De Block, discusses a number of reasons why philosophers of psychiatry should take an interest in evolutionary explanations of mental disorders and, more generally, in evolutionary thinking.  http://www.ishpssb.org/listserv/20110413-3.html

4. New book: Transformations of Lamarckism: From Subtle Fluids to Molecular Biology, edited by Snait B. 5. The Department of Philosophy at Bielefeld University invites applications for a doctoral position in philosophy of the life sciences. The topic may be freely chosen within any area of the life sciences, but should preferably address an issue related either to medicine or anthropology. 6. New book: Did Darwin Write the 'Origin' Backwards? Philosophical Essays on Darwin's Theory, by Elliott Sober, offers a reassessment of a number of aspects of Darwin's arguments in the Origin of Species, covering topics such as Darwin and group selection, sex-ratio theory from the 1700s to today, and Darwin and naturalism.  http://www.ishpssb.org/listserv/20110413-6.html

7. The Department of Philosophy at Mount Allison University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in philosophy.  The successful candidate will have a specialization in the philosophy of science broadly construed, along with grounding in the full tradition of the history of philosophy. 8. The FPR-Hampshire College Culture, Brain and Development program is accepting applications for a two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Interdisciplinary Studies in Cultural or Social Neuroscience. The purpose of the fellowship is to encourage undergraduate teaching and research around questions about how neurobiological and cultural factors interact with and influence psychological and social behaviors and clinical practices.  Review of applications begins immediately and will continue until the position is filled. http://www.ishpssb.org/listserv/20110413-8.html
