Finally the sun shines again after a long couple of cold drizzly days. All are rejoicing in the sunlight, and the world can start drying out again. Flowers took a beating, but are coming back now.

A weekend trip to eastern Clearwater County yielded the following sightings in Sinclair Township: OSPREY nest occupied by two feisty adults who weren't too happy with our presence, BROAD-WINGED HAWK, WILD TURKEYS, AMERICAN WOODCOCK, BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO, LONG-EARED OWL heard, OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER, GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER, NORTHERN PARULA, PINE WARBLER, MOURNING WARBLER, and INDIGO BUNTING, among others.

Sandy Aubol in Polk County had a somewhat unusual visitor to her yard when a YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD flew through on June 21. John Loegering reported a EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE in Crookston on June 20 at the corner of Locken Boulevard and Sunset Ave. Mike Christopherson in Crookston also reported a nest and recently fledged nesting BROWN THRASHERS on June 17.

Milton Blomberg while in Hubbard County found CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER, NORTHERN PARULA, AMERICAN REDSTART, and a singing CONNECTICUT WARBLER near the boat access to Mantrap Lake. Marshall Howe observed a singing TENNESSEE WARBLER in Hubbard County on June 16 as well as some PINE SISKINS.

Thanks to Marshall Howe, Milton Blomberg, Mike Christopherson, John Loegering, and Sandy Aubol for their reports.
