I have a second hand report of a White-winged Scoter at Fisherman's Point in Hoyt Lakes, St. Louis County this past weekend. The bird was reportedly photographed by Audrey Evers this morning (20 June). This is extraordinary, but not unprecedented during the summer season. Spring migrants occasionally linger into early June and there are summer records for Clearwater, Marshall, Polk, and Roseau counties in the Northwest region. Most unusual was the well documented discovery of one at Herschberger W.M.A., Lincoln County, 21 and 28 June 2006, by the Minnesota County Biological Survey (Loon 79:18).
