This is the Duluth Birding Report for April 13th, 2012 sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.
Five AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS were found by Jan and Larry Kraemer on the 5th at Perch Lake in the Fond du Lac neighborhood of west Duluth. Peder Svingen saw a first-cycle GLAUCOUS GULL on the 7th and 8th at Interstate Island in the Duluth harbor.
Larry Ronning saw a male AMERICAN THREE-TOED WOODPECKER on the 9th about 3 miles north of Two Harbors off CR 2.
New arrivals in the area during the past week include AMERICAN BITTERN, OSPREY, GREATER YELLOWLEGS, RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET, and RUSTY BLACKBIRD.
