A EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE was found on the 21st by Sharon Lind at 320 2nd Avenue in Two Harbors, but the bird has not been seen since. A GRASSHOPPER SPARROW was seen on the 20th at Lighthouse Point in Two Harbors. Bob Myers reported a YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD on the 17th in Silver Bay. Peder Svingen saw four WHIMBRELS on the 22nd at Knife Island in Knife River.
Jan and John Green saw two LONG-TAILED DUCKS on the 19th in Cook County at Taconite Harbor, and about 30 out from the mouth of the Cascade River. A NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was seen in Ely on the 18th behind the Wilderness Outfitters building near Camp Street and Central Avenue.
Lars Benson found a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD on the 24th at the Park Point Recreation Area. Frank Nicoletti and Karen Stubenvoll saw 18 RED-THROATED LOONS on the 19th near the Sky Harbor Airport on Park Point. They saw a WESTERN GREBE at the same location, which was joined by a second bird on the 20th, as well as a MARBLED GODWIT and two WILLETS on the beach at the Recreation Area. They also found a first-year GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL in the Duluth Harbor. Jan Kraemer saw six WHIMBRELS on the 20th at Hearding Island on Park Point, and seven were seen on the 23rd at 43rd Street along with a WILLET.
New arrivals in the area during the past week include SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER, WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER, COMMON NIGHTHAWK, BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO, and BOBOLINK.
