While conducting Breeding Bird Atlas work in Jackon County, I saw a Male Lark Bunting fly in front of the car and land in the road. I watched it for about 10 minute while it fed along the side of the road. It finally flushed when another car came along and flushed it out into a corn field about 300 yards. I then left the area, finished the survey of the block I was in, and returned about an hour later. This bird (or perhaps another) was about a quarter mile farther West of where it was first seen, sitting on a fence. I was able to take pictures of the bird both times, digiscoping using my cell phone camera. While not great pictures, they are enough to identify the bird as a Lark Bunting. Directions to the location are as follows: Take I-90 to the exit to MN Highway 264 (don't know the exit number but it is the exit to Round Lake, MN) and go South on 264 towards Round Lake for 4.5 miles to 750th St. Go East on 750th Street for 4.6 to 4.8 miles (distance differences are because of the two different sightings. There is grassland on the North side of the road between the road and a drainage ditch. There is a cornfield on the South side of the road. As an added bonus, there was an upland sandpiper about a mile to the East.
