This is the Duluth Birding Report for August 10th, 2012 sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

A flock of 21 MARBLED GODWITS was found on the 8th by Erik Bruhnke at Park Point in Duluth.

As many as 22 GREAT EGRETS are still being seen along Aitkin County Road 15 west of the town of Aitkin. Ron Erpelding and Mark Junghans found a GREAT EGRET on the 2nd at the Two Harbors golf course. Possibly the same individual was seen on the 8th along CR 26 on the north side of Two Harbors. Ron and Mark also found a VIRGINIA RAIL near the Castle Danger sewage lagoons on the 2nd.

Dave Grosshuesch saw a flock of 50 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS west of Grand Marais on the 5th.

Shawn Conrad had a EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE in his LaPrairie yard in Itasca County on the 3rd and the 5th.
