This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday November 8th, 2012.

That first state record CASSIN'S KINGBIRD was still in Grand Marais, Cook County on the 6th, where it was seen hawking insects along 3rd Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues. Both a TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE and a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD were also seen near here.

On the 5th, a BLACK SCOTER was along the Mississippi River at Minneiska, Winona County.

On the 4th, Jim Schultz found a SNOWY OWL in Maple Grove on the north side of Hennepin County Road 30 near Duffney Road.

A CAROLINA WREN was reported on the 7th at Elm Creek Park in Hennepin County. It was seen toward the end of West Hayden Lake Road. Another was in Ramsey County on the 4th, visiting a front yard feeder along the 1900 block of Malvern Street in Lauderdale. And on the previous day, a Carolina Wren was in Hastings, Dakota County, near Galena and Locust streets, on the the northeast side of Lake Isabel.

A MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD is being seen in Two Harbors, Lake County, along the gravel frontage road near the Edna G.

A late AMERICAN BITTERN was reported from the north shore of Lake Waconia in Carver County on the 8th. A very late YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT is being seen in Duluth in the ally between 8th and 9th Streets and east of 7th Avenue East.
