You may also hear this report by calling (218)847-5743 or 1-800-433-1888. The cold and a little snow has arrived causing the feeders to be very busy all day. A warm up is promised for tomorrow, followed by more sub-zero temperatures. Gary Otnes in Otter Tail County reported a HOARY REDPOLL among the COMMON REDPOLLS at his feeders on January 12. Brad and Dee Ehlers observed 10 AMERICAN ROBINS in crabapple trees behind the YMCA in Fergus Falls on January 15, and they reported up to 130 COMMON REDPOLLS at their feeders. From Moorhead in Clay County, Kathy Bresee reported a VARIED THRUSH in their yard on January 12. Sandy Aubol in hosting two unusual HOUSE FINCHES in her yard in East Grand Forks, Polk County - one with a white face and one of the orange phase. Shelley Steva saw a BALD EAGLE two miles north of Oklee in Red Lake County on January 10. Two flocks of SNOW BUNTINGS were also in the area. Here at our feeder east of Thief River Falls in Pennington County, a NORTHERN FLICKER was seen as recently as yesterday. In Holt, Marshall County, Beulah Wikstrom saw a NORTHERN SHRIKE take a bird from under her feeder on January 12. Cliff Steinhauer reported SNOW BUNTINGS, COMMON REDPOLLS, and PINE GROSBEAKS in his yard just west of Agassiz NWR on January 17. Last week he saw a MERLIN and a NORTHERN GOSHAWK in the area. Pat and Ray Roth, and Beth Siverhus both reported that GREAT GRAY OWLS and NORTHERN HAWK OWLS were seen on January 14 along MN 310 north of Roseau in Roseau County. Beth also reported SHARP-TAILED GROUSE, BLACK-BILLED MAGPIE, and GRAY JAY south of Roseau, and in Warroad , WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS and COMMON REDPOLL. A WHITE-THROATED SPARROW and a COMMON GRACKLE continue to come to her feeder in Warroad.
