This is the Duluth Birding Report for March 14th, 2013 sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

Good numbers of GREAT GRAY OWLS have been seen in the past week in and around Tower in northern St. Louis County, and along the North Shore in Cook County. A SNOWY OWL was seen on the 10th near the Culver's restaurant in Two Harbors. It has also been seen in recent weeks near the railroad yards in town.

Flocks of BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS are being seen in Duluth around the UMD campus, along West Skyline Drive, and near Hawk Ridge. Spring migrants have begun to arrive in the area during the past couple of weeks, including ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS, MERLIN, and RING-BILLED GULLS.
