The last I heard, MediaMill is not going away any time soon because it serves many purposes that wouldn't fit into a public YouTube account. Can anyone confirm that MediaMill access is continuing and, in fact, that possibly a MediaMill 2.0 is being developed?

For public video streaming the UMN video group suggested that we use a YouTube account as part of the UMN's Google Apps suite of applications. We requested a new departmental account for this.  We also asked that this new account be enabled for Google Apps.  Once we had that ready we logged into gmail.umn.edu with this account and chose the YouTube option under "More" to upload the video to YouTube.

Kaltura was dropped but I don't think any announcement was ever made about that, or what the current plan is. --Ann

Does anyone know where the U is at with Kaltura? In a fall session with Web Standards there was a presentation about the transfer from MediaMill to Kaltura and the top priority was Moodle at the time. Has anyone started using Kaltura outside of Moodle as an alternative to MediaMill yet? We need a media streaming and storage option for our website and are wondering when we can get on the Kaltura bandwagon.

Thanks
Megan
