This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday August 22nd, 2013.

On the 22nd, Doug Kieser reported a YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER at the Lowry
Nature Center in Carver County. It was seen along the Aspen Trail about
100 yards from the Tamarac Trail and it was associating with a small
flock of other warblers including Magnolia, Black-and-white, and
Golden-winged.

A PARASITIC JAEGER was seen on the 17th by Steve Oakley between the
Beach House and the Sky Harbor Airport off Park Point in Duluth.

Also in Duluth, Karl Bardon reported 30,874 COMMON NIGHTHAWKS on the
21st from counting sites at Hawk Ridge and Lester Park. Jesse Ellis
counted more than 3700 in less than an hour on the 19th near Tofte in
Cook County.

Laura Segala reported a COMMON GALLINULE on the 17th, at the Eastman
Nature Center in Hennepin County.

On August 12th, Tim Oppenheim reported a RED-THROATED LOON at Seagull
Lake in Cook County. This is near the Canadian border in the BWCA.

A samping of southbound migrants includes BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER,
SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER, YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO, YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER,
NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH, CANADA WARBLER, BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER, and
SCARLET TANAGER.
