This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday August 1st, 2013.

The YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER is still being seen on the east side of the Nature Store parking lot at Whitewater State Park in Winona County, and on July 27th, it was photographed feeding three young.

Erik Bruhnke reported a RED-THROATED LOON on the 24th from Lake Superior near the Sky Harbor Airport of Park Point in Duluth.

On July 31st, Doug Kieser reported four BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS at the Jirik Sod Farms near in Empire Township in Dakota County. This was on the west side of County Road 79 and south of 200th Street.

On the 29th, Sparky Stensaas found a GREAT GRAY OWL in Lake County, along the Whyte Road about two miles west of its intersection with Cloquet Lake Road.

Interesting was Herb Dingmann sighting of a GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE in a Scott County wetland along state highway 19 about two miles west of New Prague.

In Fillmore County, Dedrick Benz found a RED-NECKED PHALAROPE on August 2nd, at a farm pond about 15 miles south of Rushford between the towns of Highland and Bratsberg. Other fall migrants reported over the past week include YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER, SWAINSON'S THRUSH, TENNESSEE WARBLER, BAY-BREASTED WARBLER, WHITE-THROATED SPARROW, and PURPLE FINCH.
