This is the Northwest Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday, February
13, 2014 sponsored by the Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce.

This has been a very quiet period in the northwest with very few reports
and not many birds at feeders either. Weather has been very cold, warmed
up enough today to lay down a couple of inches of fresh snow, then
cleared and got windy again. Tonight the wind has died and it is
relatively pleasant.

Shelley Steva saw two BALD EAGLES and one AMERICAN ROBIN in Norman
County on February 5 along US 75.

In Pennington County on February 12, Shelley reported a BALD EAGLE
feeding on something in the snow along CR 3 .

Heidi Hughes found a male SNOWY OWL at the Agassiz Valley Project in
southern Marshall County about 9 miles east of Warren on February 9.

In Roseau County, Beth Siverhus picked up an injured GREAT GRAY OWL and
saw two more healthy ones south of the intersection of CR 9 and CR 4 on
February 7. The injured owl was sent to the raptor center for
rehabilitation.

Thanks to Beth Siverhus, Heidi Hughes, and Shelley Steva for their
reports.
