This is the Duluth Birding Report for May 8th, 2014 sponsored by the
Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

A EURASIAN WIGEON was found by Karl Bardon on the 7th at Brighton Beach
in east Duluth, but it has not been relocated. Kim Eckert saw four
WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS at the same location on the 8th. Kim also saw six
RED-THROATED LOONS on the 8th at the Park Point Recreation Area, and a
LONG-TAILED DUCK on the 2nd at Indian Point in west Duluth. Peder
Svingen saw a RED-THROATED LOON on the 2nd near the Lakewood Road.

A WILLET was seen at Agate Bay in Two Harbors on the 7th. Two VESPER
SPARROWS were seen on the 3rd along Scenic Highway 61, two miles west of
Two Harbors.

Other recent spring arrivals in the past week include AMERICAN BITTERN,
GREEN HERON, SOLITARY SANDPIPER, BONAPARTE'S GULL, BROWN THRASHER,
VEERY, ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER, PINE WARBLER,
CHIPPING SPARROW, CLAY-COLORED SPARROW, LINCOLN’S SPARROW, WHITE-CROWNED
SPARROW, HARRIS’S SPARROW, and BREWER’S BLACKBIRD.
