*Staff Scientist*
Rice University - Houston, TX
 The Staff Scientist will analyze geological and/or other industrial
materials by EMPA. Some experience maintaining an electron microprobe is
preferable but not a requirement. The instrument will to be on a JEOL
service contract and some amount of on-the-job training is expected. The
Staff Scientist will be eligible to apply for external research funding and
the position also will provide opportunities for conducting independent
research using the EPMA as well as other facilities available at Rice.

*Education Required *
Master's Degree

Eligible job candidates are expected to hold an M.S. and/or a Ph.D. degree
in geoscience and other related disciplines involving materials research.

Experience may not be substituted for the education requirement.

1 year

- Experience analyzing geological and/or other industrial materials by EMPA
is essential. Experience gained as a graduate student is acceptable.

May substitute additional related education, above and beyond what is
required, on an equivalent year for year basis in lieu of the experience
requirement.
