We can see the end of migration now. Many of the songbirds have departed. I no longer see orioles or hummingbirds although the feeder still hangs there. Some of the late fall migrants have arrived with more to come soon.

Marshall Howe in Hubbard County reported a GREAT EGRET at his neighbor's place on September 12. On the 11th at his place near Dorset, he had RED-EYED VIREO and TENNESSEE WARBLER. On the 12th, there were BLUE-HEADED VIREO, RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET, and 8 species of warblers, on the 13th he reported LEAST FLYCATCHER and EASTERN PHOEBE. Six COMMON NIGHTHAWKS were seen on September 16.

In Polk County , Sandy Aubol reported six species of warblers, BLUE-HEADED VIREO, PHILADELPHIA VIREO, RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET, COMMON NIGHTHAWK, and one PINE SISKIN on September 11. On the 13th ,WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW arrived, and next day there were SHARP-SHINNED HAWK and WHITE-THROATED SPARROW. BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER and LINCOLN'S SPARROW appeared on September 16th and HARRIS’S SPARROW on September 18.

Here in the backyard in Pennington County I had BROWN CREEPER and WHITE-THROATED SPARROW on September 14, and WARBLING VIREO and EASTERN BLUEBIRD on September 17.
