Hey birders,

I just wanted to drop a note an tell everyone that we had a juvenile Ferruginous Hawk pass over the Bethany Hawkwatch in Mankato yesterday a little before noon.  Alas, I was teaching and missed the bird, but our main counter knew it wasn’t a Red-tail right away and his description looks real good for that species.

We’ve had nearly 3,400 raptors pass through the Bethany Hawkwatch so far this fall and this marks the second new species for the Hawkwatch (Mississippi Kite in September).

Happy birding!
