Hey birders,

The last two days we’ve had south winds and beautiful weather for November.  In spite of that (and opposite our expectations), the Bethany Hawkwatch has counted quite a few raptors moving south through the Minnesota River Valley the last two days.  Two-day totals appear below and all birds were observed at our second site (Land of Memories Park) not at Bethany Lutheran College—a south wind phenomenon:

Bald Eagle—119

Northern Harrier—6

Sharp-shinned Hawk—6

Red-tailed Hawk—384

Rough-legged Hawk—3

Peregrine Falcon—1

The 2015 fall total is currently 8,458 raptors of 14 species (see hawkcount.org/bethany).

Happy birding!
