Hey birders,

The Mankato Christmas Bird Count was held on 19 December 2015.  There was just enough freezing temperatures leading up to the date that resulted in most of the ponds and lakes being iced over.  A total of 46 species were seen, highlighted by the 100th species seen in the history of our count: Northern Saw-whet Owl (undisclosed location).  Other highlights included Merlin, Eastern Bluebird, Golden-crowned Kinglet, Northern Harrier, White-throated Sparrow, Purple Finch, and Brown-headed Cowbird.

Happy birding!
