Postdoctoral Position Available - Remote Electron Microscopy for the Undergraduate Geoscience Classroom
We are seeking applicants for a one-year postdoctoral appointment at Florida International University, Miami, FL for the NSF/TUES project: Expanding the Use of Online Remote Electron Microscopy in the Classroom to Transform Undergraduate Geoscience Education. Applicants should have some expertise operating an EPMA and/or SEM, a doctorate in Geoscience, and an interest in Geoscience Education. Research objectives are to examine the impact of remote classroom use of electron microscopy to improve geoscience education outcomes, and to define best practices and obstacles for remote use of instrumentation by geoscience educators. The post-doctoral fellow will provide instrument support to remote educational users, help develop geoscience curriculum using remote EPMA and SEM analysis, and participate in assessment processes. The Florida Center for Analytical Electron Microscopy at FIU (https://fcaem.fiu.edu/) has a full-time engineer in charge of instrument maintenance and development. Project collaborators are Rosemary Hickey-Vargas (FIU); Jeffrey Ryan (USF); James MacDonald (FGCU) and Mary Beck (Valencia College).
