We are starting to see the last of the passerine migration now, and although a killing frost has not hit most of the area, we can expect it any day now. Leaves are turning and much more color has appeared in the last week. Wind is starting to take down some of the leaves already. Many migrating NORTHERN FLICKERS can be seen along the highways and bi-ways.

In Pennington County, the last RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD was seen at our feeder on September 16. On September 18, I saw GRAY CATBIRD, EASTERN BLUEBIRD, YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER, and a few BARN SWALLOWS. A flock of WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS appeared on September 21.

Sandy Aubol in Polk County reported RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD on September 15, along with DARK-EYED JUNCO, and WHITE-THROATED SPARROW. On September 18, she saw HARRIS'S SPARROW.

In Clay County, Kara Susag had the unusual experience of hearing a WHIP-POOR-WILL calling on September 19.

Wayne Perala heard a COMMON RAVEN calling at Tamarac NWR on September 17. This week in Dorset in Hubbard County Marshall Howe reported YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER, NASHVILLE WARBLER, CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER, BLUE-HEADED VIREO, and YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER on September 15, ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK, and juvenile RED-HEADED WOODPECKER on September 16, RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD, ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, and GRAY CATBIRD on September 17, and on September 22, YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER, TENNESSEE WARBLER, PALM WARBLER, and RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET.

Jerry McKenna reported DARK-EYED JUNCO in Todd County on September 21.

In Fergus Falls, Otter Tail County, Wayne Perala saw SHARP-SHINNED HAWK on September 19, COMMON YELLOWTHROAT and PALM WARBLER on September 21. He went to Agassiz WPA west of Fergus Falls on September 22, where he reported numbers of NORTHERN FLICKERS ,CEDAR WAXWINGS, BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLERS, COMMON YELLOWTHROATS, and YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS.

Charlene Nelson reported two SHORT-EARED OWLS near Alexandria in Douglas County on September 17.

In Grant County, Charlene found AMERICAN KESTREL, EASTERN PHOEBE, WOOD THRUSH, ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, and CONNECTICUT WARBLER on September 15.
