This is the Duluth Birding Report for October 14th, 2016 sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

Bruce and Susan Fall found an adult RED-THROATED LOON on the 10th at the Park Point Recreation Area. They also saw a juvenile RED-THROATED LOON on the 10th at Agate Bay in Two Harbors, which was relocated by Kim Eckert and others on the 14th. Kim's group also saw three SURF SCOTERS at Burlington Bay on the 14th. Julie Grahn saw a female HARLEQUIN DUCK on the 11th at Tofte in Cook County in front of Bluefin Bay resort. A GRASSHOPPER SPARROW was seen on the 14th in the grassy fields on the north side of Agate Bay in Two Harbors. A LE CONTE'S SPARROW was seen on the 12th in the same area.

The first BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER of the season at Hawk Ridge was seen on the 10th and the first ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was reported on the 13th. The first SNOW BUNTING was reported on the 14th.
