What a wonderful weather week it has been in the northwest. It will still continue for a few more days but we expect the cold weather will arrive soon. Bird feeders are somewhat slow these days, but will pick up when the weather turns and the food supply gets covered with snow. No forecast yet of when that will be.

On November 9, Larry Wilebski observed a CATTLE EGRET one mile south of the Canadian border in Kittson County.

In Beltrami County, 20 miles east of Bemidji, Craig Mullenbach reported TRUMPETER SWANS, and PINE GROSBEAK on November 6, and SNOW GOOSE, GREAT HORNED OWL , and GRAY JAY on November 7.

A MERLIN was seen by Shelley Steva on November 3, ten miles east of the 7 Clans Casino along CR 3 in Pennington County. A small flock of TUNDRA SWANS flew over Digi-Key on November 7. While visiting a friend on Oakland Park Road on November 10, I saw a BALD EAGLE fly by, and a RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER came to their feeder. PURPLE FINCHES have returned to our feeder after a few days absence.

At Erskine in Polk County on November 4, Shelley Steva and I found a large number of BUFFLEHEADS and BONAPARTE'S GULLS and a family group of TRUMPETER SWANS. At Rydell NWR we saw about twenty-five RING-NECKED DUCKS.

At Dorset in Hubbard County, Marshall Howe reported RED CROSSBILLS and RUSTY BLACKBIRD on November 4, and NORTHERN SHRIKE on November 6. A flock of about 75 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE flew over on November 7, and BLACK-BILLED MAGPIE and CEDAR WAXWING were also seen. On the 10th two COMMON LOONS were observed.

Wayne Perala in Fergus Falls, Otter Tail County, reported BROWN CREEPER and NORTHERN SHRIKE on November 9.

Kathleen MacAulay saw a GREAT EGRET on Lake Christina in Douglas County on November 7.

At the North Ottawa Impoundment in Grant County, Wayne Perala found SNOW GOOSE, CACKLING GOOSE, NORTHERN HARRIER, BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON, BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, and DUNLIN on November 8. Charlene Nelson reported a mixed flock of RUSTY BLACKBIRDS, BREWER'S BLACKBIRDS, RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS, and EUROPEAN STARLINGS at their farm on November 10.
