In the northwest, a hold has been placed on the thaw now, but we have
lots of ice on the sidewalks and parking lots. Main roads, however , are
ice and snow free, and some fields are starting to show some bare spots.
A few HORNED LARKS have been reported, though not many yet.

Becca Engdahl took a trip north on the weekend and found some owls in
the Roseau area, including GREAT GRAY OWL, NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL, and
NORTHERN HAWK OWL. She also was in the Red Lake WMA and the Big Bog,
adding NORTHERN SHRIKE, BOHEMIAN WAXWING, PINE GROSBEAK, RED CROSSBILL,
and SNOW BUNTING along the way.

Larry Wilebski in Kittson County is still reporting dancing SHARP-TAILED
GROUSE near Lancaster.

Zeann Linder heard a EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE on the weekend, and Gary
Tischer reported an AMERICAN ROBIN, both sightings in Thief River Falls,
Pennington County.

Gary Tischer also reported an adult BALD EAGLE three miles south of
Brooks in Red Lake County this afternoon. On January 20, Craig Mandel,
Ron Erpelding, and Mark Junghans found GRAY PARTRIDGE along CR 18 west
of Red Lake Falls. Other species seen included NORTHERN SHRIKE, HORNED
LARK, COMMON REDPOLLS, and SNOW BUNTINGS in this county; AMERICAN
ROBINS, BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS, and DARK-EYED JUNCO were seen in Oklee.

A SNOWY OWL was reported in Polk County near Sherack by Teresa Audette
this week.
