Maybe JEOL went to a different window material? Wouldn't be the first time they did something like that and didn't tell anyone. Either way, cool, free counts! Did P/B get better or worse?

Too bad about Chitna. Are you at least going to get a chance to murder Bambi in August?

Ken,

If it is a thinner window than you had before, you should see the effect mostly for the softest x-rays:

The ratio New counts/ old counts  would be highest for the softest x-rays.  The ratio would progressively decrease as x-ray energy increased.

Hi all - we just changed the detector window on one of our argon detectors and are seeing somewhere around 20-25% more counts using the new window.  This seems like a huge increase.  While I would expect some change, I would expect the change to be in the range of a couple percent.  Has anyone else seen this?

Thanks!
