Hey birders,

The Bethany Hawkwatch in Mankato has been slowed considerably by the persistent southerly winds and high humidity.  Yesterday the birds finally broke through in spite of the weather.  Between our two sites we counted 3,729 raptors of 9 species between 9:00am and 3:30pm with 2,803 of those birds passing through between 1:00 and 2:00pm.  As you can imagine, most of them were Broad-winged Hawks (3,437) which included 5 dark morphs (our favorite).  We had a single flock of over 1,400 birds at Bethany Lutheran College!

Happy birding!
