Take stress and Let It Go

Relieve Stress

With Thanksgiving coming and going, we are finally on the last stretch of the year. With final exams and paper deadlines approaching it is important to understand our stress and how it can be positive, but also how we can take healthy breaks from studying and life to relieve our stress to restore some calmness and serenity.

Stress is the body’s response to a challenge or demand. Everyone experiences stress. Stress serves an important purpose in our lives to respond quickly to experiences involving obstacles or emotionally turbulent situations. These lengthy exposures to stress, however, can be detrimental to our mental and physical well-being.  A large body of research suggests that increased stress levels interfere with your ability to deal with physical illness.

To stop these negative side effects of stress, here are some stress relief activities!

  1. Light your world. Light a candle and use aromatherapy to treat your mood.

  2. Dancing Queen(s and Kings). Play some of your favourite music and wiggle your finger like Timmy Turner.

  3. Netflix and Chill. Take a breather with an episode of your favourite show.

  4. Pen to Paper. Write down your thoughts and release your feelings to the paper.

  5. Chomp away. Chewing gum is a quick way to relieve some stress and trick your brain into happy waves.

  6. Snuggle. Positive physical touch can lower heart rate and blood pressure.

  7. What up, Ma? Call or spend some time with family and friends.

  8. Yoga. Yoga joins the mind and body and is a popular way to relieve stress. Join WBI Wednesday Mornings in N20 for light yoga! (8am)
