Wellness Week!

Today marks the beginning of Wellness Week, and it is an important day for many reasons. Today is both World Mental Health Day and Indigenous Peoples' Day. Mitchell Hamline School of Law Professor Angelique EagleWoman (Wambdi A. Was’teWinyan) shares her words of encouragement to kick off this week. 


Wellness includes physical, spiritual, occupational & intellectual, financial, social, and emotional wellbeing. We encourage you to attend one or many of this week's events to educate yourself about or engage in the various forms of wellbeing. See below for the schedule.

Wellness Week Schedule

Monday, Oct. 10th

Affirmations and Treats (Grab and Go) | 9:00-2:00 | Sub Plaza

Walk Along the River with WBI | 5pm | We will start at Mondale and head down to the river. This is a great opportunity to socialize with new people, get outside, and get moving!

NAMI Connections Group for Law Students - | 4:30 - 6pm | Remote; https://umn.zoom.us/j/97566449394 Meeting ID: 975 6644 9394 | The NAMI Connections group offers peer-led support for law students living with mental health disorders who attend any Minnesota law school (UMN Law, St. Thomas, Mitchell Hamline).


Tuesday, Oct. 11th

Meet LCL and the Minnesota Board of Law Examiners | 12:15-1:15 | Mondale Room 20 | Learn about help seeking and the mental health questions on the Bar application.

The Trauma Informed Legal Professional | 4-5pm | Zoom | LCL is hosting this continuing education program. Register here


Wednesday, Oct. 12th

Wellness Resource Fair | 11:30-1:00 | Sub Plaza

Walter’s Wardrobe Cloting Swap | 10:30-1:00 | Auerbach Commons | Bring your gently used business clothing to swap!


Thursday, Oct. 13th

AccessLex: The Psychology of Financial Decision Making | 12:15-1:15 | Mondale Room 55

AccessLex Coaching Sessions | 1:30-4:30 | N203 | Sign up HERE 

Restorative Yoga | 4:15-5:15 | Spannus Commons (will be hosted every Thursday after)


Friday, Oct. 14th

Character and Fitness Wellness Group | 12:30pm | For University of Minnesota law students struggling with substance use or who are in recovery. Contact [log in to unmask] for room location and  Zoom info. 


If you are or someone you know is struggling, we encourage you to reach out for help. It is okay to not be okay, and remember things will get better. There are many resources available, including the 988 Suicide and Crisis Hotline (dial 988), and Sand Creek 24/7 Phone Counseling (651-430-3383 or 888-243-5744).
