Hi, Desmond,
Last week I visited Dr. Vodyanoy's lab at Auburn U and got a chance to look
at live yeast cells with his new CytoViva technology (just exchange
conventional condenser for their proprietary condenser/illuminating system
and use a high NA objective with iris for fine tuning). They are going to
be debuting the system at the Cell Bio meeting in Washington a month from
now. We saw interesting substructure in the yeast (vacuoles, etc.),
without staining or any other preparation. I'd suggest you get in touch,
either with Dr. Vodyanoy (Auburn U School of Vet Med) or with Aetos, the
company which is manufacturing CytoViva. Tom Hasling is their tech apps
specialist: [log in to unmask] There is also going to be a website
up just prior to the meeting (probably around Thanksgiving): www.CytoViva.com.
Hope this is helpful.
Best regards,
Barbara Foster
