Subject: bottles for immersion oil?

Search the CONFOCAL archive at
http://listserv.acsu.buffalo.edu/cgi-bin/wa?S1=confocal

Dear all,

I am trying to find some suitable bottles for
immersion oil (to be filled with oil from the
cheaper 100 or 250 ml packages) which turns out
to be more difficult than I would have imagined.

I don't like normal dropper bottles since excess
oil tends to run down on the outside of the bottle, making it greasy.

Instead, I like those brown glass bottles with a
plastic rod attached to the inside of the lid. 10
ml Leica Immersion oil comes in them, but I
couldn't find them anywhere as empty bottles. I
could fill the latter with just 1 or 2 ml, so
that not the full length of the rod will carry (way too much) oil on it.

So far I found glas bottles with glas pipets
attached to the lid. I don't feel comfortable to
use those if I have to apply oil directly on the
lens on an inverted microscope, it might easily
scratch the front lense if misused.

Does anybody know a source for bottles with plastic rods attached to the lid?

As a second best solution, is there a source for
bottles with a plastic pipette attached to the lid?

Please let me know if you can help, in particular
if you should know a source in Europe.

Thanks,

Steffen
