Dear Confocalists,
I would like to know what software people are using to image process
their data sets from the Confocal on the SGI? I am at present comparing
all the image processing programs available, not just on the SGI.
At present I have Imaris from Bitplane running on a SGI, and this has a number
of problems.
1/ If you open a Z series data set of 31 slices using 0.5 microns
steps, then Imaris thinks they are 0.41 microns apart.
2/ The Z series data set opens upside down and back to front
3/ The projection module is very slow and as the data is distorted
and upside down and back to front, and therefore unhelpful.
To show this I have set up a web page at
<http://www.bio.cam.ac.uk/~sossick/3D/index.html>
I used a Biorad 1024 Confocal which has software that generates
projections and 3D reconstructions very well, and we were sold the SGI and
Imaris to generate 3D reconstructions faster and better, neither of which is
the case.
If people could spare a few moments to answer a few questions I will post the
results back to the Group.
1/ What platform do you image process your Image Data sets on.?
2/ What software do you use?
3/ What do you think of the software?
