Soaking glassware in concentrated nitric acid is a pretty good way to get
rid of residual protiens after a good wash. If your culture plate is all
glass it should be able to go through this cleaning many times without ill
effects. Just dip item in DI water after the acid bath to dilute the acid
(can boil/splatter upon 1st contact with water), then rinse thoroughly.
This is how they cleaned quartz cuvettes for fluorescence spectroscopy at
the Spex/JY R&D department.
